A GRAND 71 NOMINATIONS FOR THE SABC TV NETWORK AT THE 13TH SAFTA EDITION

This year’s awards will take place on Saturday, 2nd March 2019, at 20:00 following a 30 minutes glitz and glam of the red- carpet from 19:00-19:30.

SABC2 is once again the main broadcaster of the South African Film and Television awards  broadcasting live from Sun City for the third consecutive year.

The TV Network celebrates a massive 71 nominations, proving to be amongst the leading broadcasters in the world.

The award nominations shows appreciation of the quality of work put out by the extremely talented productions  both in front and behind the scenes - from hair and make-up, wardrobe , directing, scriptwriting as well as the hard work of our actors and on-air-talent.  

SABC1’s Uzalo leads the nomination pack with 9 nominations including Dawn Thandeka King for her outstanding portrayal of MaNgcobo, nominated for best actress in a TV soap and Khaya Dladla who plays the role of GC, nominated for best supporting actor in a TV soap.

 After walking away with the Golden Horn last year, Tjovitjo’s Warren Masemola is proudly nominated in the Best Actor in a TV Drama category for a second year in a row.

As he bows out of his 28 year presenting career with the show, seasoned Noot Vir Noot presenter, Johan Stemmet received a nomination in the Best TV Presenter category, and the SABC2’s longest running game show Noot vir Noot which celebrates its 28 year milestone on air this year has been nominated in the Best Game Show category. Other notable nominees for SABC 2 are newly commissioned Die Vlieende Springbokkie and In Die Kollig with one nomination each, for Best Actor in a TV Comedy and Best TV Presenter respectively.

SABC 3’s comedy, Bedford Wives received 5 nominations in the comedy categories. New on SABC3, Hectic on 3 received nominations for Best Children’s Programme and Best TV Presenter.
