Mthethwa to take legal action against Kwaito artist Eugene
Arts and Culture Minister of Nathi Mthethwa is taking legal action against music producer and Kwaito artist Eugene Mthethwa.
This follows the alleged remarks he made at the memorial service of music legend Dan Tshanda.
Speaking at Tshanda’s memorial service in Newtown, Johannesburg on Friday, Eugene alleged that the minister was planning a hit on him.
He said that he was warned by a friend that his life was in danger as the minister was not happy with public comments he made in 2018.
Late in 2018, Eugene alleged that the minister was using state funds to illegally fund the Cultural and Creative Industries Federation of South Africa, which focuses on artists’ rights in the country.
Spokesperson for the minister, Asanda Magaqa says the minister has described the allegations as defamatory and intended to cause harm to his office.
