U.S. first lady Michelle Obama addressed a women leaders' forum in Soweto, today.

The U.S.-sponsored Young African Women Leaders Forum brings together women from across sub-Saharan Africa who are leading or involved in social and economic initiatives in their own countries.

Obama arrived in Mzansi this week.  On Tuesday, she met with 92-year-old anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela at his home in Johannesburg.  The wife of U.S. President Barack Obama was accompanied by the couple's two daughters, Malia and Sasha, her mother Marian Robinson, and her niece and nephew.

Obama's trip to Africa is aimed at promoting youth empowerment and encouraging young Africans to take a leading role in helping to solve the continent's problems.

Her trip includes visits to Cape Town and Robben Island where Mandela was held for most of the 27 years he was imprisoned for leading the struggle against apartheid, a South African white minority government policy of racial separation.

After visiting South Africa, she will spend two days in neighboring Botswana, arriving there on Saturday.

Three guys and three girls are a few steps closer to making their dreams come true and onto becoming SA’s leading couple. Who will rise to the occasion and avoid elimination and emerge the winners? Monday’s elimination show saw a surprisingly composed Nina Hlalo being sent home after receiving the least number of votes. “I’m more excited than sad to be leaving the show.  This experience has boosted my confidence and has allowed the dreams in my head to become a reality, this is just one box ticked off my list, and I still have aspiring Rapper and Chef to conquer.  This is the start of bigger and brighter things to come” says Nina.  For several weeks Nina has grown with each performance but her journey came to an abrupt end when Kenneth called out her name as the next eliminated contestant, leaving Mandisa safe for another week.  Mandisa also received the most votes as Metro FM’s listener’s choice for Class Act of the week.

Tumie’s star shone through well enough to secure her a Class Act of the Week Award. Guest judge, Xolile Tshabalala said Tumie was the most believable in how she played a villain. The previous show when the girls were up for elimination, Moonyeenn said she questioned if Tumie had what it takes to become a great actor. After last week’s screen test, Tumie is clearly out to win Class Act.
When asked about how she felt to receive the award “I felt relieved when Xolile called my name.  My competition is fierce and I feel like I can breathe another week before my head is on the guillotine again.  Acting is not easy, if you think you can hide behind characters and avoid emotions you are wrong.  You don’t act, you believe. It’s all about emotions and what you can dig out and bring to the surface however exposing and hard that may be”

Next on Class Act

Anthony Bishop once more joins Class Act as a guest judge following his involvement with the production during its first season in 2010.  It’s action hero time this coming week and Bishop will be guiding the final three male contestants as they attempt to please the judges with their action sequences.   Bishop has vast experience in the industry having acted on shows such as the award winning drama Jacob’s Cross,  Zone 14, Isidingo and the local comedy City Ses’la.  His experience from season 1 is sure to add value to both the coaching he provides and his comments as a judge.
Whose stint on Class Act will sadly end next and whose star will continue rising?

Class Act airs every Saturday evening, at 18h30, live on SABC 1. Elimination shows are every Monday, at 19h00, on SABC 1.
Voting opens during the Saturday show and closes at midnight on Sunday.
Vote by sending the number of your favorite contestant to 33388 (sms charged at R1.50). Free voting on www.classactsa.mobi (Data charges apply) and on Mxit (Tradepost>Entertainment>ClassAct) at 20 Moola per vote.
