Countdown 2010

18:30 - 19:00
TUESDAYS
Sports Show

Season 2 of Countdown 2010 hit the SABC1 screen on Tuesday, 9 June at 18:30. The series has been re-branded with a new and dynamic look and feel that reflects South Africa's participation in what is a rich and resonant event in the history of the world. A studio environment is being introduced as a 2010 'nerve centre'. Situated at SAFA House, it places the show in the very heart of the 2010 Organising Committee, and illustrates that Countdown 2010 truly is the definitive World Cup preparations show.

Hosts, Lebo Motsoeli, Fezile Makhanya and Eugene Khoza, return to guide us through the action-packed show. Lebo anchors the show from studio, whilst Fezile tackles the more serious side of 2010 from the street and in the boardroom. Eugene’s unique and refreshing comedic style is brought to bear on the public at large as each week he embarks on a challenge that places him at the very grass roots of 2010 preparations.

Countdown 2010 tells the story of FIFA World Cup 2010 as it unfolds. We bring to light and to life the real stories of those people and organisations who are laying every brick; preparing every resource; consolidating every thought; putting every plan into action. Countdown 2010 is everything to do with the World Cup that exists outside of the pitch itself.

Presented in a style that is youthful and dynamic the show puts you in the picture. Countdown 2010 is a real world measure of our readiness that empowers you to engage with and become a part of the event. Countdown 2010 is a diverse account of what is being done to ready ourselves for the event. From factual information to authentic personal stories, the show delivers a balanced range of content that is always entertaining.

Countdown 2010 is a powerful celebration of our preparation that aims to further stimulate public interest in the event. We illustrate the vigorous manner with which the nation and the continent are embracing 2010.

Countdown 2010 is the ultimate World Cup insider unpacking the fabric of 2010.

I have applied for 2010 world cup tickets - 2nd, 3rd, and 4th phases and have been unsuccessful in all phases. When the 4th phase opened, the morning I was waiting for FNB to open an applied and yet again not successful. Please advise how this is possible that I'm always unsuccessful and yet they say that there are tickets available. By the way I applied for Soccer City Jhb and Cape Town. Please help!!!!!!

Guys our national soccer squad's name should be changed. How about "The Spears" as I understand in South Africa a spear is regarded as the powerfull weapon of our ancestors.King Shaka,Mzilikazi,Moshoeshoe and many other Kings of our nations used and trusted this weapon to win battles.I think this name in itself tells the opposition of what they are going to play with, that is dangerous people. The name sends fear to the opposition.

I just don't understand why our boys jerseys are green and gold and not the colours of our flag.We are suppose to be a rainbow nation n they should lead by example and be proudly South African.
