Do you think you have what it takes to become the next Live Show presenter?

SABC1 & Live presents Phase 1 of the Live Talent Search process by calling on all aspiring South African's to enter the national auditions process online via the Channel’s website, at www.sabc1.co.za. The online registration site will be activated on Friday 03 February, closing on Friday 10th. Applicants will be required to fill in an online application form and a motivation paragraph of “Why they want to be a Live presenter.” Applicants must be between the ages of 19 – 24 and proficient in both English and Nguni. “We are excited at SABC1 to once again present this not-to-be-missed opportunity to the youth of Mzansi to showcase their skill & talent on national television. We encourage them to register in their numbers and to make full use of this process of auditions for a chance to become a presenter on one of channel’s key music properties,” says Vukile Madlala – Channel’s Publicity Manager. “The Channel held similar national talent searches previously through which icons were created who are now celebrated personalities nationally.”

Step 1:

Complete all the Audition tasks. (A paragraph on 'Why you want to be the next Live presenter)

Upload a picture of yourself and/or a 2 minute video.

Step 4:
Selection of 200 finalists from the national registration process.

Step 5:
Shortlisted candidates will be notified via sms of the regional audition details

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to do regional screen tests (4 people per provinces)

Step 7:
The Top 4 will be invited to participate in the final round in the Live studio in Johannesburg.

The viewers will have a final say in voting in their favourite guest presenter to join the LIVE team.

SABC1 Mzansi Fo Sho presents a new and exciting 39-part basketball and lifestyle show, The Bball Show, scheduled to start airing on Saturday 12 November 2011, at 13:30.



Sports shows come and go but Mzansi screens are about to be shaken up and bounced around with the biggest sporting invasion of the decade! Presented by the young, funky and talented radio and tv personality, as well as basketball player himself, Siyabonga Ngwekazi (Scoop) and flanked by the show’s resident expert, Cabby Magongwa, who is one of the most talented and respected basketball players and gurus in SA. The duo will keep viewers glued to their screens through their entertaining analysis and heated discussions in and around the sport. They will be covering the latest basketball news, views and developments across SA, Africa and the world.

“Our youthful audience will find the show very interesting as it is not only about the game of basketball. Its unique format covers the wider world of basketball including the lifestyle, music, personalities and the various events and projects associated with the game,” says Vukile Madlala, the channel’s Publicity Manager.

The introduction of the highly anticipated and exciting sports and lifestyle show titled “The Bball Show” is a new and dynamic show that will highlight the game of basketball, from current affairs to the hottest ballers in South Africa, Africa and the world. It will showcase the freshest, sexiest and hippest lifestyle events and happenings around hip hop, dance, graffiti and fashion.



 “Basketball is the sport SABC is looking to invest in as we believe it is a sport with great potential in South Africa,” says SABC Sport commissioning editor Dinah Mahlabegoane.  

The show will take viewers through the fast paced, energetic and thoroughly entertaining  world of basketball by inviting numerous celebrities, media personalities & basket ball players (or ballers as they are more commonly known in the sporting world), such as Tshildzi Nephawe , Christofer Avenant, Emma Ledwaba, Akin Amotoso, AKA, DJ Switch, and more as guests of the show. These guests will chat about their knowledge of basketball, whilst partaking in various fun activities e.g. the hoop. Never-seen-before footage of the AND 1 street ball skills as well as courtside fashion trends, game highlights across SA and the world will form part of the show.

Saturdays are in for a serious make-over on SABC1 Mzansi Fo Sho with the introduction of, Club Culture – The Movement, a fresh and electrifying dance-music-world show scheduled to air on the channel from Saturday 05 November 2011, at 18:30.

 



Club Culture is a weekly youth music show presented by 2 of the coolest DJ’s in Mzansi today, DJ Fresh and Euphonik. The show aims to celebrate dance culture as expressed through music, the players and its followers. More excitingly the show will provide viewers with an insider’s perspective of the club scene by featuring a range of hot spots and talent across Mzansi.  

“We have always maintained that SABC1 is not just about television but is also a serious player within the youth cultural space. Club Culture affords us the opportunity to play that role as we bring to our viewers the hottest and latest beats straight from the dance floors locally and abroad,” says Vukile Madlala, the Channel’s Publicity Manager. “We encourage our viewers to tune in to the new show as it captures a variety of elements to cater for the broad needs of dance-music lovers everywhere,” she adds.

Key segments within the show include: Top 5 tracks of the week, hottest international and local Music Videos; exclusive videos created weekly for the show, capturing the essence of the hottest tracks on the dance floors. The Event Report ‘Club Culture Style’ will show audiences where the vibe is. DJ 101 will provide up and coming Dj’s hot tips presented by Dj Zinhle. Finally because South Africa is such an influencer in the dance scene Club Culture will profile local talent that is bubbling under, as well as feature a Celebrity DJ, Producer, or Artist from the dance scene.

Beyond television Club Culture will utilize a multiple platforms to interact with audiences and to push the music, including: New Media (website, active face book group, twitter, you tube uploads); Radio (partnerships with relevant stations); Downloadable Mobile Content (including the exclusive music video, behind the scenes content, entertainment industry 101 = education & aspiration); Activations (large-scale national events) and, Merchandise beginning with Club Culture t-shirts soon to launch.  .

Local hip-hop group Jozi are taking over TV with their new reality show "Jozi Moving The City". The show follows Da Les, Ishmael and their road manager David Kibuuka on their travels as they search for their new sound through Africa.

The first season consists of 8 episodes and plans are being drawn up for a second season, in which Jozi will explore more of Africa and possibly the US.
