‘da Kink in My Hair follows the lives of a group of women who let their hair down in more ways than one at “Letty’s”, a vibrant and bustling hair salon in Toronto’s Caribbean community.
Novelette’s personal life picks up where it left off in season one – complicated! She is romantically involved with Richard, but his ex-wife and family get in the way. Making matters worse, Dre’s father, Cedric, re-enters her life. As Novelette tries to untangle the webs in her personal life, she still has a shop to run and a family to look over. Her sister Joy makes her return to Letty’s Salon and tries to find her ‘own’ place within the shop. Starr, a budding hairstylist, continues her journey to find her roots, which includes dating her first black man.
The shop also has a new man in town, Malik, a teen who is rough around the edges, but has a good heart. Letty’s son, Dre, is a year older, has new friends, new loves and more growing pains. Letty’s Salon is still the place to go to laugh, to shout, to cry and…to get a really good deep conditioning.
