Khumbul'Ekhaya (Zulu word translated as Remember Home) is a heart warming docu-reality series dubbed as the truth and reconciliation process of the soul. The program reunites and reconciles broken families. In the show we track the real journeys of South Africans on quest to re-unite and bring healing to their families. It includes elements of tracing long lost relatives, finding estranged family members and healing long standing feuds that have caused rifts and pain in families.
The old political system of Apartheid destroyed the African family structure and rendered it dysfunctional. This dysfunction has spilled over to the broader society and is characterized by broken families and violent relationships. By facilitating reconciliation between estranged family members and televising this process of Khumbul Ekhaya inspires viewers to also start the journey toward reconciliation with their own families.
