Bonisanani is a children’s religion programme broadcast on SABC 1 on Sunday mornings at 06h30. It has been on air for nearly 4 years and has a loyal following of fans.
The programme aims to show South African children exploring and learning about their faith and the faiths of others, with the aim of finding ways to use their spiritual values to help them make wise, informed, responsible moral choices in their lives. In short we try to show you that your religion is something that is part of your lives and must be used. Your faith is not a separate element which is dusted off for special occasions.
Having said that, the way we want to explore religions in the new series starting in November IS through special events and festivals. We want to take a guest presenter to attend a religious festival or ceremony of a different faith to their own. At that event they will bond with and talk to a child of similar age whose family or community are hosting the festival.
